Biography
Lynn Tribe was born and raised in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. To further her education she left the valley, married, raised two children and moved fourteen times, living in Vancouver, Merritt, Golden Colorado, Hinton, Edmonton, Fernie, Barranquilla and La Guajira Colombia S. America. Returned to the Okanagan in 1991. She balances family, an accounting career, music and art. Has had "Active" status with Federation of Canadian Artists since 1983 and enjoys subjects from landscapes to abstracts. Currently working mostly in Acrylic and Mixed Media.
ART EDUCATION AND WORKSHOPS
◦ Art certificate program through University of Alberta extension dept. and Advanced painting techniques in tempera and mixed media
◦ Studied oils for 3 years with Nora Avendano in Colombia, South America
◦ Workshops with Professional artists - Ann Zielinski, Rick McDiarimid, Neil Patterson, David Langevin, Pat Lambrecht Hould, Mike Svob, Robert Genn, Linda Kemp, Suzanne Northcott, Stephen Quiller, Lana Grow, Bryan Atyeo to name only a few. Enjoys learning new techniques and mediums. Currently concentrating on Acrylic and mixed media collage.
AWARDS
Has received numerous Jurors' Choice awards and participated in The Life and Arts Festival, Art Walk in Lake Country, Hambleton Gallery FCA show,2010 Visions, International 2011 Triptych. Central Okanagan FCA shows - Autumn Gallery and OASIS 2017, Abstracted Show FCA Vancouver March 2018, International Representation show Vancouver 2020 AIRS, Concept Show 2021 FCA Vancouver, Thompson Nicola FCA 2021.
ART EXHIBITIONS
Group shows and One Man shows in Kelowna, Kamloops, Penticton, Hinton, Edmonton, Merritt, Fernie, Cranbrook and Barranquilla, Colombia. Currently represented at "Rags, Relics & Rutabagas" in Rock Creek, BC and has been twice in SOPA Gallery Spring Show "U 8". She has been in National Juried FCA show in Kamloops, BC and several Chapter Juried FCA shows in the Okanagan. Artworks are in collections in Fernie, Calgary, Port Hardy, Kelowna, Texas and Colombia. "Being an Artist has changed the way in which I see the world and living in South America for three and half years had one of the greatest impacts on my life, bringing out an intense appreciation for Canada, its people and its environment. We are so fortunate to live in this great country, in particular our little corner of the world."
